In My Mind. 2022

This exhibition is an examination of thoughts, feelings and memories that have become intertwined with song lyrics that play repeatedly within the artist’s mind. These lyrics are the artist's personal response to scenario’s lived through. 

Music is transcultural, it allows us all to express and experience life through another lens. We attach memories and moments to music. We relate the emotional experience of the musician to what is or has occurred in our own lives. The lyrics connect and stay with us, helping us to identify feelings we struggle to articulate. 

Through text paintings and mixed media portraits, the artist shares the emotional ebbs and flows within her mind and we are given a glimpse into this busy place. These works reflect how she identifies with challenges, changes and choices within her life. The lyrics selected in this exhibition address concepts of motherhood, emotional fulfilment and chronic pain.
