What is love?’ and the iconic motif that expresses it. The heart itself is an organ that keeps the human body functioning, yet we associate this organ with the idea of love. ‘Follow your heart’, ‘my heart is broken,’ ‘ I love you with all my heart’. Why is it that we believe that this organ is responsible for our feelings of desire, compassion, and connection to others when in truth it is a muscley, veiny, bloody organ vital to our survival? Perhaps without some form of love in our lives, we cannot survive? Exploring the concept of the heart as a machine through anatomical shapes created with cogs and watch parts.
